This picture is a good example of the Great Depression and represents it quite well in my opinion. The picture depicts a small house that most of us today would see as a backyard shed. However, this is no shed, as it is obvious that this is the women's house. It looks to be constructed of cheap lumber and doesn't look to be very "sturdy," for lack of a better word. From what we can see of the roofing it looks to be made from sheet metal of some sort which is definitely not a practical roof as it would most likely leak. The whole house also appears to be suspended by stacks of bricks, no foundation at all. Inside doesn't look much better, from what we can see, it looks dark and damp, not the house I would like to be living in. This represents the Great Depression so well because during that time people couldn't afford "nice" things, such as a well built house, fine clothing, and among many others, electricity. The people of that time were forced to live with that they could get, and what they couldn't for that matter, unlike today where the luxuries of a proper house and electricity are, by some, taken for granted.
